Healthy Options At McDonald's
By revortay1
McDonalds has constantly been slammed for making america fat over the years. I'm hear to say that McDonalds is not to blame but rather the people who eat what they do from there. I'm not saying that it is okay to eat McDonalds every day but rather it isn't horrible if you have it once in a while, it's all about what you have! This hub will go over what are in my opinion the healthiest options when eating McDonalds. Don't eat here every day if you are looking to stay healthy however if you choose the right options at McDonalds when you absolutely have no other choice you can get by with eating at McDonalds.
Healthy Sandwitch Options at McDonalds
The first option I would like to suggest when looking to eat healthy at McDonalds is the premium grilled chicken sandwich. This sandwich contains 420 calories, 51 carbs, and 32 grams of protein. The key is to get grilled chicken as apposed to crispy! The second healthy sandwich choice at McDonalds is the Grilled chicken ranch BLT sandwich. This option has 470 calories with bacon however if you take the bacon off it drops to 420 and has 54 carbs and 36 grams of protein. The key when having McDonalds is to not get the value meal and sticking with the main course and possibly a diet soda.

Healthy Salad Options at McDonalds
I would suggest any of the salads at McDonalds as a smart choice when eating there. However you must be sure that you get grilled chicken as apposed to crispy. Also this is without dressing! If you want dressing be very sparse! This goes for anything you eat, dressing is a sure fire way to ruin a healthy choice such as a salad!
Healthy Burgers at McDonalds
Hamburgers at McDonalds are probably one of the worse choices aside from milk shakes however if you must then you must! My advice to you is to pick the smallest one that you can. This will be sure that you don't get too much crap in your system. Again be sure to stay away from the fries! These are killer to your diet!

Hey miss_jkim! Thanks for the wonderful feedback! You're right that some people simply might not be able to fit this in and that is their own choice to make. And you are very right about people not owning up to their own faults and decisions. Thanks for taking the time to read my hub!

If you eat at Mickey D's it's best to enjoy anything, it's really not a healthy place to go. Great hub and i order the grilled chicken every time i go to Mickey D's.
I agree with you Eddy, however if someone is on a strict diet they may have to eat at McDonald's just because they don't have time to get a healthier meal. This could also be very important for body builders where missing a meal can be worse than eating a crappy meal. However I must admit that if I eat junk food I go all out. If it was a perfect world however it would not be the case.
Thanks for reading! :]
I have often said that The Golden Arches gets a bad rap. There are plenty of healthy options, the problem is that almost nobody buys them. Grilled chicken is perfect, although I would take the top bun off because that is too many carbs.
Thank you for seeing my point! I agree the bun is un-necessarily especially if you are severely watching carbs... however McDonalds has many options and usualy you can find something that fits your needs in a jiffy :] thanks for reading!
Great hub! Many times it can be a challenge to find something quick and healthy. Thanks for the great ideas to help me eat healthy at McDonalds!
Thanks Sovannie! Glad to know I could help you eat healthy at McDonalds!

Chicken sandwiches at McDonald's have just as many, and in some cases, more calories and fat than their burgers. Just because something is chicken does not make it healthy. Just because something is a salad does not make it healthy. Always check nutritional information (from a reputable source) prior to ordering. And if you have to eat out at Mickey D's at least get the most bang for your buck -- a hamburger, small fries, and a diet drink has only 460 calories total. Ditch the fries and get a side salad with Newan's Lite Balsamic (which is really good) and you're looking at 270 calories total.
There are many healthy options at McDonalds, however their premium chicken sandwiches are not one of them.

Hum, I'm afraid that any of the "healthy" chicken sandwiches would be the death knell to my diet. 420 calories is twice what I'm allowed to eat for lunch and the fat and carbs exceed my DAILY allowable intake.
I have eaten the southwest grilled chicken salad and I do use dressing sparingly. On the few occasions that I do indulge in this meal, I either do an extra 30 min of aerobic training or slide through dinner with a glass of V-8 and a cheese cube.
In all honesty, revortay1, I agree with the premise that it's not the "place" one eats that is responsible for a person’s weight issues, it's the persons own choices or lack there of...
Our society has spawned a trend of blaming everyone and everything around us for the troubles in our lives. It's time to start looking in the mirror and being responsible for ourselves and our choices.
