Sony MDR-XB500 Headphones Review

Let me start out with telling you how I happened to get my hands on the XB500 Headphones from Sony. First of all i'll start by saying that these are without a doubt, some of the best mid priced headphones out there. They are great headphones for quite cheap! Well it started out with me always wanting really cool looking headphones and like any teen age boy who wants cool looking headphones I thought that I would go with Skull Candies. They look awesome and they must sound awesome too is basicly how I thought about it. So I was looking around on Best Buy's website looking at head phones when I saw these big black Comfortable looking head phones called the Sony XB500.

The first thing that caught my eye is how cheap they are compared to Sony. The second thing is what really got me, the reviews. At the time they had higher ratings then all of the Skull Candies and once I begun to read the reviews I was astounded! Turns out that every one likes these headphones better than their old Skullies. Needless to say this caught me by surprise so I decided to do more research. Turns out everything was better. From the sound quality to the durability. So I decided to buy these big old Sony MDR-XB500 head phones and boy did I fall in love!

Sony MDR-XB500 Sound Quality

The first thing that impresses me about the Sony extra base headphones is the sound quality. Yes they have good base, we will get to that in a moment, however on top of this the quality of the sound coming out of them is phenomenal. Listening to music on these is a joy, an experience even. You hear things differently, you truly do hear your music in a completely different way. In fact i took them to school and let my friend listen to them, he literally offered to pay me to listen to them every single day. I truly do believe that even if the sound quality was the only thing going for these head phones you should still purchase them, but luckily there's more!

Sony MDR-XB500 Bass

The bass on the Sony XB500 headphones is mind blowing, literally. If you have the volume on your MP3 player up all the way on a good bass song your ears will vibrate inside the head phones. Even better the sound quality is just as constant at high volumes and you don't miss anything. The bass is not distracting in any way and in fact i find that even to classical songs it adds another spectrum to the crystal clear music. Compared to most Skull Candies and other head phones that I have experienced the bass out matches the other headphones. However on the rare occasion that you find a head phone that has better "bass" the sound quality from the XB500 blows them away! It isn't even comparable!

Sony MDR-XB500 Durability & Comfortability

I have had my Sony MDR-XB500 headphones for almost a year now and I must say that I have had no problems with them breaking. I have taken them every where with me, from school to the beach and to be honesty they haven't been handled with the utmost care and yet they still work just fine. I wouldn't worry about these headphones breaking on you before you get your moneys worth out of them that's for sure!

These bad boys are comfortable! I feel like I should say this a couple more times, but it is true! They look large and heavy however once you put them on you barely notice they are there! The cushions feel so good around your ears and don't worry about not having enough space for your big ears. I have large ears and mine fit snuggly inside the cushions, the cushion don't sit on my ears! I can wear them all day and not grow weary of them.

Sony MDR-XB500 Noise Cancellation

This is another great feature of these headphones! You can barely hear anything when you are wearing them! This only adds to the experience of listening to your music! The first thing people say when they try them out before they even hear the music is how quiet they are, a feat hard to achieve with over the ear headphones!

Sony MDR-XB500 Price

These head phones are the best, I think that we have established that, however the price is what really sets them apart. I got mine for just under 80 dollars. That is ridiculous considering the prices of some similar head phones. In fact my Sonys are in some ways better that their more expensive counter parts! Just one more reason you should purchase a pair of Sony MDR-XB500 headphones today!
